“I’m like that really annoying kid in school who’s bragging that they made out with the popular girl but has no proof.”

Following on from the red carpet tour for A Star Is Born, we now know to expect a lot from Lady Gaga when it comes to doing press for movies, and she hasn’t disappointed while promoting the factually-inspired drama House of Gucci. In a recent panel with MGM Studios, she revealed that she pitched a sex scene between herself and co-star Salma Hayek, and that it actually got filmed before ultimately being deleted from the final cut.

Gaga elaborated recently on the content of the scene and why it was removed in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, who, speaking on behalf of a good portion of that film’s audience, asked who made the decision to take it out of the edit.

“Not me!” Gaga said. “I’ll never forget when I told Salma. I was like, OK listen, so, before we do this scene, I just want your consent to do something together. And she’s like, OK, OK, OK, what do you want to do? And I said, OK, so I was thinking, you know, after the hit gets put out on Maurizio, and you get the phone call that he’s dead, that I walk over to you and kiss you. what?!”

She went on to describe how she and Hayek then took the idea to director Ridley Scott, and his wife Giannina Scott, who was a producer and had been trying to get the film made for the better part of the two decades. “So this was 20 years in the making, and so then we asked them, they were like, yeah sure, try it, and we did it,” she said. “Now the only reason it’s not in the movie is because that whole scene was cut.”

“But it was an awesome scene,” Gaga continued. “She’s walking around the house, and the camera was following her feet and all her cats were following her, and Salma, in order to get the cats to follow her, she put a bunch of catnip in her boots, so Salma’s walking around the house, and the cats are following her… and then we were surrounded by cats and we started making out. I made out with Salma Hayek, so… I’m like that really annoying kid in school who’s bragging that they made out with the popular girl but has no proof.”
