Showrunner Eric Kripke has dropped some major hints around the storyline for the highly anticipated The Boys season 3. Based on the comic book of the same name, Kripke’s involvement in the series was first announced in 2016 alongside executive producers Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen. Taking the world by storm since its original series debut in 2019, the release of The Boys season 3 has been eagerly awaited, given that COVID-19 restrictions resulted in production delays.

Reportedly adapting elements from the comic’s controversial Herogasm miniseries, The Boys season 3 is also set to introduce Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, a parody of Marvel’s Captain America. Earlier this year, fans rejoiced when Amazon announced the first three episodes of The Boys season 3 will drop on June 3, with new episodes then releasing weekly thereafter. In the lead-up, however, the show’s creative team has also been busy releasing a series of The Boys in-universe new articles, advertisements, and other media via their Vought International social media accounts.

Last month, in one of these in-universe news clips from the Vought News Network, fans were introduced to the show’s own version of Chuck E. Cheese, a family pizza restaurant dubbed Buster Beaver’s. Then, more recently on International Pizza Day (February 9), the Vought International Twitter account retweeted the restaurant’s commercial, and Kripke himself felt obligated to retweet it and chime in. Claiming that the restaurant is “crucial to the Season 3 storyline,” Kripke quickly clarified that he would “be taking no further questions at this time.” Check out his original Tweet below:

Exactly how a fictional, family-friendly pizza restaurant is set to feature in The Boys’ twisted fictional universe is not exactly clear at this point, but it’s likely that whatever happens will not be even remotely family-friendly. The most probable scenario is that the Buster Beaver’s franchise will form part of Vought International’s enormous corporate conglomerate. Beneath all of the restaurant chain’s slick advertising and child-friendly appeal, Vought will probably have something far more sinister at play for the children who frequent their venues.

Whatever diabolical things are really happening behind-the-scenes at Buster Beaver’s, no doubt Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher and his friends will find a way to bust it wide open in The Boys season 3. Of course, there are still several months left before the new season finally airs on Prime Video, so Kripke may give more glimpses into what The Boys has planned for its characters as the season 3 release date draws ever closer. In the meantime, it is worth keepng a close eye out for more hints dropping via the Vought International social media accounts.
