The Boys Season 3 Showrunner Reveals When Trailer Will Be Released

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke reveals when the first trailer for season 3 will be released, and fans aren’t going to have to wait very long.

Showrunner Eric Kripke teases when fans will finally see the first trailer for the third season of The Boys. Amazon Prime Video’s R-rated superhero show has become a huge hit over its first two seasons. Although The Boys season 3 was announced even before the second season debuted, COVID-19 complicated filming the highly anticipated return of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid). However, the cast and crew powered through the pandemic to wrap filming in the fall of 2021, putting the show on track for a 2022 return.

The Boys season 3 is expected to once again feature plenty of outlandish setpieces and socially and politically relevant topics, but specific story details are still largely under wraps. Audiences know that Homelander (Antony Starr) will be a bit more on edge than usual, and it seems that Starlight (Erin Moriarty) is taking over as the leader of Vought’s superhero team, the Seven. While Billy and Hughie will also return alongside the other members of The Boys, season 3 is also confirmed to adapt the famous Herogasm event from the Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson comics the show is based on.

he Boys has built up quite a fanbase since its premiere, and many viewers are eager to know when they’ll see more. Thankfully, showrunner Eric Kripke gave an update on the status of the new season on Twitter. He revealed that half of the season is mixed and that a lot of VFX work still needs to be done. However, Kripke also confirmed that the first The Boys season 3 trailer has been finished and will be released in a few weeks. The first three episodes of the new season officially drop on Amazon Prime Video on June 3, 2022.

Although The Boys season 3’s marketing campaign has yet to officially kick off with a proper trailer, Amazon Prime Video has not left fans completely in the dark since season 2 ended in early October 2020. Prime Video released a short The Boys season 3 teaser at the beginning of 2022 that included a very quick look at Starlight and Homelander. The streaming service has also produced some additional content through the YouTube series “Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman,” which shows what happened in this world between season 2 and season 3.

With The Boys season 3’s June release date nearing, Amazon could share the first trailer at some point in late February or early March. The footage should be exciting for fans of the show as it will presumably feature the first look at Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy in action, potentially alongside the other members of his superhero team Payback. It also wouldn’t be too surprising if The Boys season 3 trailer includes the first tease of the Herogasm storyline if it’s possible to package that storyline in a trailer that’s meant for general audiences.
