The model confirms that copper hair isn’t going anywhere this year

Show season often requires models to embrace a new look, whether that be a bleached brow or a shorter cut, all in the name of fashion. This season, it seems Kendall Jenner has succumbed to the winds of change and decided to try out one of the most popular shades of the season, debuting a new copper-toned hair colour at the Prada autumn/winter 2022 show.

The 26-year-old model took to the catwalk in Milan sporting a sleek and lacquered sky-scraping chignon, a look masterminded by the runway’s favoured hair stylist, Guido Palau. Rather than a very realistic wig, Jenner’s real hair was dyed for the runway, with Palau crediting hair colourists Jenna Perry (who’s also worked on the hair of Bella Hadid, Maude Apatow and Jennifer Lawrence) and Matt Rez for her new warm-toned shade.

The look might have been originally intended just for the Prada show (it’s worth noting that a handful of other models also seemed to be sporting a bright new hair hue on the brand’s catwalk) but Jenner has decided to commit to her new hue – and has been seen more recently still sporting the copper shade in Paris.

The model joins the likes of co-model and friend Gigi Hadid, who went through several fiery red and golden copper shades last year, and actress Sophie Turner, who has recently switched in her light blonde hair for a cherry rouge hue. If it was ever in doubt about what the shade du jour is, this circle of A-listers have made it quite clear.

For those interested in trying a copper shade for yourself, it’s imperative to speak to your hair stylist who can advise you on what you can realistically achieve with your current hair shade. For a lighter red hue such as Jenner’s, darker hair tones would have to first be lightened with bleach in order to get the most natural-looking finish.

Those already blonde will find the process easier, although deciding on which shade of copper to go for might prove just as tricky. Always remember to show up to your appointment prepared with image references; giving your hair stylist visuals will allow you to both understand what you want to achieve and save you from disappointment with the outcome.
