Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, TV fans have gotten quite used to lengthy delays between seasons of their favorite shows. But even with that in mind, the wait for Barry season 3 has been a particularly excruciating one. The season 2 finale of HBO’s beloved dark comedy concluded with quite a cruel cliffhanger.

When we last left off, hitman-turned-actor Barry Berkman a.k.a. Barry Block (Bill Hader) was possibly exposed as a murderer to one of the most important people in his life, acting coach Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler). How Cousineau would react to such a betrayal has hung out there in the TV ether ever since May 2019. Now, some three years later, we’re about to finally see the fireworks go down.

Barry season 3 officially has a release date, trailer, episode count, and much more! Here is everything we know about the new comedy classic.

Release Date

All the 8 episodes of Barry Season 3 will be released on April 24, 2022, on HBO Max.

Barry Season 3 Cast

Barry is an ex-Marine turned hitman. He didn’t have any particular human connections which got changed when he joined the acting classes due to one of his killing jobs. The community of aspiring actors made Barry give thought to his life choices and he tried to leave that life behind. However, somehow his not-so-glorious past keeps creeping back into his efforts to live a normal life. 

Fuches is an old friend of Barry and he is the one who brought Barry into the world of crime. Fuches cares about Barry until the point it is in his own best interests. He doesn’t respect Barry’s decision to move on from crime and keeps bringing him back into the mess due to his selfish reasons. 

Barry met her at the acting class. Sally aspires to be a successful actress. The duo has had a history of romance together.

Hank is a part of the Chechen mafia and was the right of Goran Pazar who he succeeded as the gang leader. However, he struggles to manage an entire gang when he himself isn’t a very violent person.

Cosineau is the acting coach whose classes Barry joined. He served as a mentor to him and helped Barry come out of his dark past and accept it as a part of his life.

Barry Season 1 and 2, both had 8 episodes each, and Barry Season 3 will also follow the same pattern by dropping 8 episodes.

Season 3, Episode 1: “forgiving jeff”
Debuts: SUNDAY, APRIL 24 (10:00-10:30 PM ET/PT)
As an increasingly desperate Barry (Bill Hader) searches the dark web for jobs, Sally (Sarah Goldberg), now the creator and star of her own show, begins to feel the pressures of success. Meanwhile, Noho Hank (Anthony Carrigan) braves his first big test in interrogation, and Gene (Henry Winkler) ruminates over Fuches’ (Stephen Root) crushing reveal.

Then, Cristobal (Michael Irby) and Hank (Anthony Carrigan) face a major setback when Cristobal’s (Irby) father-in-law Fernando (Miguel Sandoval) unexpectedly arrives in LA looking to take out the Chechens – and bring Cristobal home.

We don’t know if the episode titled “ben mendelsohn” actually features the actor Ben Mendelsohn but oh we hope it does!

Plot

HBO’s official plot synopsis for Barry season 3 reads:

“Desperate to leave his violent past behind in favor of his newfound passion, Barry (Hader) is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting. But getting out is messy. While Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play. What is it about his own psyche that led him to become a killer in the first place? Season three finds Barry and the other characters trying to make the right choice.”
