A Beloved 1990s Sitcom’s Cast Reunites For New Project

Back in the heyday of the sitcom, the 1990s, there were a few on television that stood above the rest. FriendsFrasierSeinfeld, and the beloved Everybody Loves Raymond series. Everybody Loves Raymond began in 1996, and worked its way into the 2000s, as the hilarious combination of Ray Ramano, Patricia Heaton, Brad Garrett, Doris Roberts, and Peter Boyle, offered plenty of laughs through the show’s nine-season run. Now the creator responsible for the series, Phil Rosenthal, is set to start his own podcast, which will reunite the cast. Well, that’s to say part of the cast will be joining in on hosting duties. Rosenthal, Ray Romano, and Garrett will come together for an episode of the podcast to talk about life and their time under the spotlight. The name of the podcast is called Naked Lunch.

Before anyone gets any ideas about what Naked Lunch means, it will be a podcast in which Rosenthal will invite guests on to speak about their lives, while they take in food from local restaurants. Rosenthal is set to host the podcast with best-selling author and journalist, David Wild. The podcast has already revealed its inaugural set of guests, which includes Everybody Loves Raymond stars, Ray Romano and Brad Garrett. Also on the list are Brad Paisley, Elaine May, Jimmy Kimmel, Nancy Silverton, Paul Reiser, Roy Choi, and others. The entire podcast will be recorded at Rosenthal’s home. The episode in which the three ELR alumni are meant to be on should be interesting, as they can take everyone back to how the show came about.

Ray Romano has been a famous comedian since the 1980s, he rose to superstardom in the 1990s, after Everybody Loves Raymond came out. Romano became the highest-earning television star in 2004. The series would go on to be worth a staggering $3.9 billion. Throughout its run, the series amassed a huge following and a staggering 177 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, while winning 56 of those nominations. Romano himself won Outstanding Lead Actor for the series in 2002. He also landed two more Emmys as executive producer, when the series won for Outstanding Comedy Series in both 2003 and 2005.

Now Romano, Garret, and Rosenthal can talk about the great success of Everybody Loves Raymond, and where they have all been since then. Romano has been quieter in recent years, though he has held roles in several television shows including Get Shorty and Made for Love. Garrett has had more success in terms of film appearances, especially in Disney films. He famously voices Eeyore in Christopher Robin and Ralphs Breaks the Internet. His voice is the right type to be cast for a depressed donkey. Rosenthal, on the other hand, has slowed down in recent years. His last producing credit came by way of 2019’s Somebody Feed Phil.

Naked Lunch will premiere on Sirius XM Radio, and major podcast platforms, and broadcast on the Sticher app as well. The first list of guests should be interesting, to say the least. That includes the episode that will feature the reuniting of the Everybody Loves Raymond cast. The podcast will drop on May 12th.
