Everything You Need To Know About Jordan Peele’s Nope

The final trailer for the auteur’s next film has revealed what’s hanging in the sky above stars Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya.

Whatever you do, don’t look up. For awhile, that was the only thing we knew about Jordan Peele’s third feature film, Nope, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer. On Thursday, the final trailer for the horror auteur’s film dropped, revealing the central conceit of heretofore mysterious plot of the film. Warning: spoilers will follow.

In the first teaser trailer, audiences learned that Kaluuya and Palmer star as sibling ranchers James and Jill Haywood, owners of the only Black-owned horse ranch in Hollywood. In an effort to promote their business, they make a commercial promoting their legacy as the descendants of one of the first men to ever appear in a moving image. From there, horses and people flew into the sky, wacky inflatable tube men lined the desert, and Kaluuya got a very bad vibe whenever he faced skyward, but the reason why was still obscured.

Now we know: it’s aliens. In the new trailer, Kaluuya says he saw “something big above the clouds,” while Palmer wonders whether what he saw was responsible for the death of Pops, an elder relative of theirs we see fall off a horse. Through the clouds we see glimpses of a UFO-shaped object as horses scatter and Palmer screams for Kaluuya to run.  It’s not long before they concoct a master plan to capture the alien invasion on film.

“This could be an opportunity,” Palmer tells Kaluuya, convincing him they need to film the UFO. “I’m talking rich and famous for life.” She promises that they’ll capture what no one else has captured before: “Undeniable proof of aliens on camera,” she says. “The Oprah Shot.”

The rest of the trailer features a ragtag group, led by Palmer and Kaluuya, trying to capture their Oprah shot without being abducted by aliens, or worse. Horses get beamed up to the sky and blood lines the windows of their ranch, but that doesn’t deter Kaluuya from attempting to lure the aliens out so that Palmer can get that one perfect shot. The last shot of the trailer features Kaluuya on horseback with a massive UFO just behind him.
