Former Conservative MP Rory Stewart has appealed for help to find his lost wedding ring.

The former minister said he lost it in the town of Buxton in Derbyshire after giving a talk on Saturday and posted on Twitter asking for the public to help him get it back.

He said he was “very embarrassed”, but would be “so grateful” if people could help share the image.

The picture posted on social media shows a circular gold ring with a cross face.

The former Conservative Penrith and the Border MP said he thought the ring was “dropped on St John’s Road”, which is nearby the venue after he gave a talk at an opera house.

In response to the tweet, thousands of people shared and commented on the post in an effort to help find it.

Under former prime minister Theresa May, Mr Stewart served as international development minister and was later expelled from the party.

He quit as an MP in 2019 to run for London mayor as an independent candidate.
