She-Hulk: Attorney At Law director Kat Coiro, who worked with Jennifer Lopez on Marry Me, says it’s her dream to bring J-Lo into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Premiering August 18 on Disney+, She-Hulk follows Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany as defense attorney Jennifer Walters, who inherits the Hulk’s powers after being accidentally contaminated with the blood of her cousin, Bruce Banner. From there, Jennifer must juggle her life as a 6’7″ green superhero with her profession as a lawyer, now specializing in cases involving superhumans.
Other than Maslany leading the cast, She-Hulk also features Mark Ruffalo’s return as Smart Hulk alongside Ginger Gonzaga, Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Jon Bass, and Renée Elise Goldsberry. She-Hulk‘s many MCU cameos include Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. The new Marvel show is created and written principally by Ricky and Morty alum Jessica Gao with Marry Me helmer Kat Coiro leading the directing team. Though She-Hulk boasts an impressive ensemble cast, there is still one actor Coiro wants to bring into the MCU.
During a recent interview with Tara Hitchcock, Coiro reveals it is her “dream” to bring Lopez into the MCU. The She-Hulk director does not reveal any more information than that, such as what role or project she would like to see J-Lo be a part of, as she simply appeared to be putting the message out there. Read what she says below:
Oh, well, my dream is to bring J-Lo into the MCU, so… Put that out there.
Before She-Hulk, Coiro directed the 2022 romantic comedy Marry Me which starred Lopez as a pop superstar who decides to marry a random fan (played by Loki star Owen Wilson) holding up a “Marry Me” sign at one of her concerts. Coiro and Lopez developed a close connection during the making of the film and before its release on Peacock, the director posted a heart-felt message about the actor on social media. It appears Coiro and Lopez’s working relationship isn’t quite over yet, as the She-Hulk director is now campaigning to bring her into the MCU.
Casting a widely recognized singer and actor like J-Lo would be a major win for the MCU, reminiscent of Harry Styles’ surprise cameo as Eros in Eternals. In an incredible coincidence, J-Lo was once fan cast as She-Hulk in 2018 after posting a photo on Instagram showing off her impressive biceps. The role obviously went to Maslany for the Disney+ series, though as the MCU continues to expand and attract A-list stars, it wouldn’t be difficult to find a role in the franchise suitable for a unique talent like J-Lo.
