If there’s one nail polish color that continues to rank top tier, it has to be blue. No matter the season, blue prevails with infinite options. Once summer rolls around, vibrant and electric blues take charge, while spring brings out all the periwinkles, and fall inches us a step closer to grayish tones.

But there’s one admittedly dated shade of blue often associated with the chevron prints of the 2010s: turquoise. Selena Gomez might know exactly what I’m talking about.

On August 28, her go-to manicurist Tom Bachik shared a TikTok of the singer sporting a teal manicure while mouthing the words to her feature on Rema’s song “Calm Down.” Bachik revealed on his Instagram that the polish on Gomez’s nails came courtesy of Mia Secret and goes by the simple name of Turquoise. Her nails were filed short in a square shape at her preferred fingertip length. The gem tone proves surprisingly to be as unique and trendy as it once was.

Not only are we digging the vibe of Gomez’s manicure, but we also cannot get enough of her new curly brown bob. While her trimmed fringe was pinned back (another very 2010s look) with what appears to be a headband, her textured, shoulder-length curls have light-brown highlights at the tips.

Gomez was sorely missed at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, an event where 3D decals, grunge designs, and bedazzled metallics made their mark on celebrity manicures. Yet her relaxed manicure still made its way onto our radar. Clearly, trending polishes of the past continue to rule. And yes, I’m cringing thinking about the duck face and peace sign selfies associated with the turquoise manicures of decades past. Hopefully, we can reinstate the trendy shade without those.
