Ana de Armas fears for ‘Blonde’ nude scene going viral, often visits Marilyn Monroe’s grave
Ana de Armas has a major fear from her performance as Marilyn Monroe in ‘Blonde’
Back in July, there were a number of renowned film critics who refused to review Netflix’s ‘Blonde‘ film starring Ana de Armas. This movie is about to stream on September 28 but those critics called it a ‘fantasy rape porn’ that allegedly doesn’t portray the life of the late movie star accurately.
Ana de Armas keeps feeling proud for her work in the movie but she can’t help fearing what people with no reservations will do with the nude scenes in the movie. She already bashed the people who gave the film an NC-17 rating, which doesn’t help the film’s cause. Now that she openly talked about these scenes, there is far more expectaton about them as every Netflix subscriber will want to see what all the fuzz is about.
Ana de Armas visited Marilyn Monroe’s grave
During an interview with Variety, Ana de Armas spoke about these scenes and also about the struggles to understand how nuanced Marilyn Monroe was as a character. This is what Ana said: “I know what’s going to go viral. And it’s disgusting. It’s upsetting just to think about it. I can’t control it, you can’t really control what they do and how they take things out of context.
“I don’t think it gave me second thoughts, it just gave me a bad taste to think about the future of those clips. I did things in this movie I would have never done for anyone else, ever. I did it for her, and I did it for Andrew. I couldn’t shake it off. I couldn’t let her go. I went to visit her at her cemetery a few times – I would have liked to go one more time.”
This isn’t the first time Ana de Armas plays a woman who is abused in a movie, she also did it back in 2016. The movie in question is called ‘Exposed‘, originally called ‘Daughter of God‘. It was written and directed by Gee Malik and it also stars Keanu Reeves. ‘Blonde’ director Andrew Dominik has repeatedly defended his version of this film by talking about the book the story was adapted from.
