Emilia Clarke is seemingly playing Abigail Brand in Secret Invasion, and her role connects to several upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and shows. There has been immense secrecy surrounding Emilia Clarke’s Secret Invasion role from the time she was cast. This led to speculation that her role is a major Marvel character. It now appears that Disney has accidentally revealed that Emilia Clarke is playing Abigail Brand in the upcoming Disney+ series. While her Secret Invasion character is not confirmed, the likelihood of Abigail Brand joining the MCU through Emilia Clarke is significant for the future.

If the MCU stays close to comics with Abigail Brand, the franchise is on the precipice of introducing a half-mutant/half-alien who becomes the leader of SWORD. She has played a massive role in Marvel’s comics thanks to her connections to the Avengers and X-Men, so there is an expectation that Emilia Clarke’s Secret Invasion role is only the beginning of her MCU story. This will certainly be the case if she plays Abigail Brand, who could be the MCU’s real Nick Fury replacement. While Marvel Studios has not confirmed what will come next for Emilia Clarke’s Secret Invasion character after her debut, Abigail Brand could connect to six future MCU projects.

Emilia Clarke’s Abigail Brand Might Return In The Marvels

The first place that Emilie Clarke’s Abigail Brand could return in after Secret Invasion is The Marvels. The upcoming Phase 5 sequel to Captain Marvel stars Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), but it also features the return of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) after Secret Invasion. It has long been expected that The Marvels will directly build off what happens in Fury’s Disney+ show. This could mean that multiple Secret Invasion characters appear in the Captain Marvel sequel, including Emilia Clarke’s Abigail Brand.

There are a few different ways that Abigail Brand could connect to The Marvels‘ story. It appears that the movie revolves around Ms. Marvel’s bangles, and the possible alien tech could be something that Abigail Brand is familiar with. It is also possible that Emilia Clarke’s Secret Invasion role could connect to Kamala Khan’s story in the sequel. The Ms. Marvel finale included the big twist that she is a mutant, a trait Ms. Marvel now shares with Abigail Brand. Clarke’s character might be able to better explain Kamala’s powers to her and what her mutant DNA really means.

Abigail Brand Should Be Involved In Vision Quest

Abigail Brand’s MCU future after Secret Invasion should also include a role in Vision Quest, the upcoming Disney+ series following Paul Bettany’s White Vision. Viewers were introduced to this new version of Vision in WandaVision, as SWORD created him using the remnants of the original Vision’s body and Scarlet Witch’s magic. Abigail Brand could factor heavily into Vision Quest if she fulfills her comic destiny and becomes the new director of SWORD. It would only make sense that she would look to track down a lost asset in White Vision and ensure that he is not a threat to the planet.

Vision Quest‘s title might even make more sense with Abigail Brand’s inclusion. The comic version of the Vision Quest storyline was already largely done in WandaVision, which left many confused what the Vision-centric Disney+ show’s story will actually be about. Vision’s quest to learn who he really is and figure out his place in the world could be part of the narrative. However, Brand’s quest to find Vision could also be what Vision Quest‘s title ultimately refers to. It would give the series name a double meaning and open the property up for more MCU connections even beyond Emilia Clarke’s possible return.

Emilie Clarke’s Abigail Brand Can Return In Deadpool 3

Emilia Clarke playing Abigail Brand in the MCU also might connect her to Deadpool 3. The upcoming movie features two mutants already in Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), so Abigail Brand’s mutant ties could bring her into the fold here. There has also been speculation that Deadpool 3 will introduce Alpha Flight – Canada’s version of the Avengers – since Reynolds is Canadian. Part of Abigail Brand’s comic history includes spending time working with the team, so she could be part of the MCU’s Alpha Flight team potentially. This could also be a way for Deadpool 3 to feature a few familiar MCU characters.

Either Avengers 5 or 6 Will Likely Include Abigail Brand

The possibility of Emilia Clarke’s Secret Invasion character being Abigail Brand also increases the likelihood that she will be in either Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars. The two upcoming Avengers movies do not have any cast members officially attached, but the event nature of the Multiverse Saga films means just about every main MCU character will be involved. Abigail Brand’s introduction and potential path to leading SWORD, Alpha Flight, or another organization designated to protect the world means she should have an important role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. She might not directly fight Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) in the movies, but her presence should still be felt.

Emilia Clarke Can Be In Armor Wars After Secret Invasion

Marvel is already laying the seeds for Emilia Clarke to return in Armor Wars after Secret Invasion. Don Cheadle returns as Rhodey in Secret Invasion, and it is confirmed that his involvement directly leads into Armor Wars. The way that this will happen is not clear yet, but the connective tissue between the two MCU properties strengthens the idea that some other Secret Invasion characters will return. Abigail Brand could be one of those returning characters in Armor Wars. There have even been theories that SWORD will be heavily involved in the story, so Emilia Clarke’s return would be natural if Brand takes over the organization.

Abigail Brand Connects To The MCU’s X-Men Franchise

Emilia Clarke’s Abigail Brand introduction in Secret Invasion also connects her to the MCU’s future X-Men franchise. Marvel Studios added multiple mutants to the MCU during Phase 4. Between Kamala Khan’s new origin, multiverse X-Men like Professor X, and Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The debut of Abigail Brand continues the trend of putting mutants in the MCU before Marvel Studios launches its X-Men franchise. While there is no confirmation that any of these characters will return for the first MCU X-Men movie, all of them are certainly on the table to play a role.

Abigail Brand’s connections to the MCU’s X-Men franchise have plenty of possibilities. The comics have seen her serve as a bit of a villain to the mutants, which included her and Beast siding with the Avengers in Avengers vs. X-Men. Beast and Brand’s romance is even something the MCU could look to explore. Her comic story has also seen her become a member of Krakoa, the secret mutant-only civilization. If the MCU uses Krakoa to explain where the rest of the mutants have been over the years, Abigail Brand’s Secret Invasion debut could be used to set up this possibility depending on what she knows of the X-Men’s current status.
