Since then, she has had many other roles, including voicing the fierce Teela on Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Now, she has posted a sexy picture to Instagram where she wears a pink swimsuit advertising a different vintage toy altogether: Barbie.
In the picture, it looks like Sarah Michelle Gellar is on vacation somewhere warm (a good idea given how cold it has been in recent weeks). She appears to be posing on a balcony and getting ready to head into the water. The idea that she is taking a special vacation is supported by the hashtag for her caption: #barbiesdreamvacation.
And as any fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar knows, her Buffy Summers character was always a great source of pop culture references and topical humor. It looks like Gellar shares Buffy’s sensibilities because the earlier part of her caption reads, “I’m a Barbie Girl, in a Santa world.” The first part of the quote is a clear reference to the famous boppy song “Barbie Girl” by Aqua, but Gellar changed the lyric “Barbie world” to “Santa world” in deference to the holiday season.
In fact, if you end up following Sarah Michelle Gellar on social media, you should buckle in and brace for more cheeky pop culture references. For instance, she posted another vacation photo yesterday where she showed off her famous legs while wearing a black bikini and a loose woven top. But what really made the post hilarious was that she was wearing a White Lotus Resort & Spa hat and referenced The White Lotus in her caption, writing that she was waiting for some “high end gays” to join her.
Unfortunately for her, Sarah Michelle Gellar’s career seemingly peaked with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. On the small screen, her crime drama Ringer ended up being a big flop, and it only lasted a single season. The same can be said of The Crazy Ones, a show that she starred in alongside the late, beloved comedian Robin Williams.
Once upon a time, Sarah Michelle Gellar was a reliable box office draw thanks to films like Cruel Intentions, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scooby-Doo, and The Grudge. Over time, though, she ended up starring in some truly forgettable stuff (please raise your hand if you actually watched Simply Irresistible or Veronika Decides to Die). Now, when she appears in a film, she is likelier to be just a supporting character.
The good news is that Sarah Michelle Gellar found success on the small screen once more by turning to voice acting. In addition to making brief appearances on The Simpsons and American Dad!, Gellar starred more extensively in Star Wars: Rebels, where she brought the fearsome Seventh Sister to life. All of this behind-the-scenes work might make you think Sarah Michelle Gellar shies away from live-action performances, but she popped up in The Big Bang Theory a few years ago and starred in Clerks III and Do Action just this year, and she has other projects on the horizon. However, it seems that she is mostly focused on spending time with her husband, fellow actor Freddie Prinze Jr. He once played the Freddie to her Daphne on the big screen, but judging from these sexy online photos, he’s now playing the Ken to her Barbie.
