Jameela Jamil ‘regrets’ being ‘rude’ towards Piers Morgan

Jameela Jamil has revealed she ‘regrets’ the comments she’s made about Piers Morgan in the past when trying to convey how much she disagreed with his views.

The actress and presenter has engaged in a war of words with the broadcaster over the years, with one of them coming in 2019 after Jameela was featured on the cover of Vogue, which had been guest edited by Meghan Markle.

At the time Piers suggested The Good Place actress wasn’t a suitable choice for the changemakers edition because of comments she’d made about some female stars in the past.

However, she quickly hit back, saying that she publicly acknowledged her mistakes.

She then added: ‘I have nothing to hide. You are old, and still a problematic s***-shaming, fat-shaming, misogynist, irrelevant s*** stain, smeared across our country.’

Now Jameela has said that while she fundamentally doesn’t agree with many things that Piers has said, she didn’t do herself any favours by biting back.

She also referred to exchanges she’d had with actor Laurence Fox, and said she also had second thoughts for referring to him as a ‘freshly w***ed c***’.

‘I don’t like those man but I was flippantly unbelievably rude,’ she said.

‘I fundamentally disagree with everything about them, but I do massively regret the way I used language.

‘I regret the way I spoke about them,’ she added on the latest episode of her I Weigh podcast.

‘I thought I was being sassy and funny and I thought that because I was a Brown, queer woman I could talk to men however I wanted but it didn’t help anything,’ she continued.

Jameela said her comments didn’t actually help her ‘move the needle’ and she was simply getting ‘clapped and clicked at by the people who already agree with me’.

She continued: ‘I was putting off the people I had the opportunity to convert by speaking with a bit more grace.’

In 2020 Jameela spoke about the impact of her social media disagreements with Piers, stating that his ‘relentless campaign of lies and hatred’ made her suicidal.

Her comments came on the day that he announced his departure from Good Morning Britain, with Jameela adding that seeing him leave the show was ‘right up there’.
