House of the Dragon season 2 pictures tease funeral scenes

House of the Dragon season 2 is looking like it will feature funeral scenes, based on new filming photos.

Work on the next set of episodes of the HBO fantasy series is underway at the moment, and it seems one particularly sombre moment will be part of them.

In the picture, we see stars including Olivia Cooke (Queen Alicent Hightower) as she sits in a chariot in dark clothes.

The Game of Thrones prequel series has been continuing to film amid the WGA writers’ strike in the US, which began a few weeks ago.

Speaking about why the show hasn’t shut down production, creator George RR Martin explained that the scripts were completed months ago.

“Every episode has gone through four or five drafts and numerous rounds of revisions, to address HBO notes, my notes, budget concerns, etc.

“There will be no further revisions. The writers have done their jobs; the rest is in the hands of the directors, cast, and crew… and of course the dragons.”

Season 2 will see the returns of main stars Emma D’Arcy, Cooke and Matt Smith, while the show has added a number of new cast members including Slow Horses‘ Freddie Fox, Raised by Wolves‘ Abubakar Salim, Penny Dreadful‘s Simon Russell Beale and GLOW‘s Gayle Rankin to the ensemble.
