Can you even imagine how stressful it must be to shoot a s*x scene with your best friend while your own brother is filming it? Emilia Clarke doesn’t have to imagine: she had to go through this traumatic experience in GoT.
Many Game of Thrones fans have been cheering up the Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow couple for years before they actually got together on the screen. They were understandably happy when the King of the North and the Queen of Westeros finally slept together on the ship headed North… But not for too long.
As we were watching Jon and Dany together in the Queen’s cabin, we were (together with Bran and Sam) also learning that they were, in fact, close relatives — an aunt and a nephew. This revelation made the long-anticipated love scene almost physically painful to watch, and this was a phenomenal way of ruining it.

But you can’t possibly imagine how it felt for Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington themselves considering that they were close friends — and Emilia’s brother Bennett was the man behind the camera who was filming the intimate scene that entire time!
“I do remember that day, our sex scene day, and my brother was in the camera department that day. … And he was on set that day. He came and said to [Kit] like, ‘Mate, you gotta get me out of here!’” shared the actress at Superhero Comic Con and Car Show.
This scene was one big emotional mess for everyone involved, but Emilia suffered the most: apart from having her best friend on top of her and her brother filming, she was also generally not comfortable with shooting nude scenes. If you’ve noticed, Clarke had progressively fewer nude appearances as the show went on.
The actress hated those sequences, and this one was truly special thanks to Kit and Bennett’s presence. The fact that the two characters were blood-related and the actors already knew about it didn’t comfort any of them, either. All in all, Emilia Clarke described her sex scene with Harrington as “unnatural and strange.”
