Úrsula Corberó, The fiction is based on a controversial case of the Barcelona Urban Guard, in which a torrid love triangle was involved that ended in a crime of passion

The release date has not yet been announced, but Netflix has decided to give the media a preview of the new miniseries that it has prepared with Úrsula Corberó and Quim Gutiérrez as protagonists.

El cuerpo en llamas ‘The body on fire’ is a story of jealousy, love triangles and crimes of passion based on the true facts of the well-known crime committed by the Urban Guard of Barcelona. Produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures, the fiction series is inspired by the event that took place in 2017, when a man was found burned inside a car, near the Foix reservoir in the province of Barcelona.

The homicide investigation brought to light a network of toxic relationships, deceit, sexual scandals and violence between several Barcelona police officers, morbid elements that are now transferred to the screen through the platform that hosts series such as Money Heist , or El vecino , also starring Corberó and Gutiérrez, respectively.

What is ‘El cuerpo en llamas’ about?

Úrsula Corberó plays Rosa Peral , a member of the police force who was convicted, along with Albert López , who is played by Quim Gutiérrez, of killing her partner Pedro Rodríguez (José Manuel Poga). Both Albert and Pedro were part of the same institutional body as Rosa, and her two companions came to maintain a sentimental relationship with her.

A few months before the murder, some compromising photographs of the girl had been released . A popular jury from the Barcelona Court stipulated in 2020 that both Rosa and Albert collaborated in getting rid of Pedro’s body, which was burned in a vehicle.

The miniseries is directed by Jorge Torregrossa , responsible for other thrillers such as Fariña or Intimacy , who also acts as executive producer. He is accompanied behind the camera by the director Laura Mañá , known for films such as Dying in San Hilario , I love you, imbecile or A boyfriend for my wife . The work is written by Laura Sarmiento , co-creator of Intimacy and screenwriter of Matadero and We were songs , among other relevant Spanish series.

The cast is completed by Isak Férriz ( Bajocero) and Eva Llorach ( Quién te cantará ), among others. The crime of the Urban Police was also dealt with recently, in a true crime documentary format , in a four-episode special during the second season of the Crims program , by Carles Porta , on TV3.
